PRINTING DATA LED LIGHTING UPGRADE

A local printing company that we frequently work for had metal halide lighting. This type of lighting was the best at the time to install, but it uses a lot of power, take a while warming up to full brightness and if the lights are turned off for any reason they take a further 10 minuets to come back on.

The lights in the warehouse were 400 watt, and we replaced these with 200 watt LED lowbay  lights. These have a crisp white light that when measured gave out 80% more light(as you can see from the before and after photo above). These also have an instant on, with no warm up or cool down time. They come with a 5 year guarantee and an expected 50000 hour life(this should give around 19 years of 10 hour days).

We also replaced the lights along the storage area with 140 watt leds, again brighter and perfectly adequate for the situation.

In summary we dropped the power consumption by 58% and the yearly running costs by £1346 per year. this giving a payback 2.4 years and increasing the light  levels by 80%

Post Grain Drier Cooling Control Panel – Velcourt Tisbury

This project we installed five new fan positions on a grain storage barn. The fans are used to keep the grain cool after it has been dried. It is very important to do this ,as if the grain temperature goes above 15 degrees it is at risk of either germinating or becoming mouldy. Fans capable of pushing large volumes of air into the grain require powerful motors.

The motors use 5.5Kw per hour, with five motors running this uses 27.5Kw per hour. The average cost of a Kw is 14.37p. Using this the cost to run the fans for one day would be £94.84. So it is imperative  that the fans are only on for the absolute minimal amount of time.

We designed and built a bespoke control panel that uses a temperature controller that keeps the fans running only when the grain temperature is over 15 degrees and the outside temperature is 6 degrees lower than the grain. This means that if the outside air is hotter than the grain the fans will not run.

The panel had override switches for each fan to individually switch between auto/off/manual

An hour meter was also fitted so the user could work out the total cost of running  the fans for each seasons storage.

Messums Art Gallery Tisbury – Track lighting

Messums Art Gallery Tisbury Wiltshire

This project consisted of converting an office into an art gallery. The old lights were removed carefully and given back to the customer for future use as they were still in good working order.  The new tenants required Euro Track Lighting to be installed. This high end lighting solution gave a neat finish to the project. The LED light fittings were adjustable and quickly positioned to light the art work within the gallery. The track lighting was suspended using high tension wire that made it blend in with the ceiling. Old sockets and data points were removed or repositioned to new locations.

Durrington Swimming Pool

Durrington Sports Centre

Durrington swimming pool had fluorescent lights running down its entire length at the very highest point of the ceiling. The lights had failed as they were many years old, badly  corroded  we were called in to renovate them. As maintenance was a real issue we opted to lower the lights to a more manageable height. The pool had a white ceiling and utilising this we aimed the lights upwards to use a diffused light in the pool area, preventing glare for the swimmers. This gave a good illumination level and also for the lifeguards meant they could now see clear to the pool bottom as the previous light reflected light back off of the water surface.

Energy saving & Metering

Money savingEnergy saving , Money doesn’t grow on trees !, So don’t waste a penny.

With rising electricity prices its becoming more important to find where you can save wasted power consumption.
With an energy saving survey you can be sure to see where you can make changes to achieve this.
This is the only metering that can show what each circuit is using minute to minute, the meter will log all information so you can see where every drop of power is being used and when.
These can be rented for a one off fee or installed permanently.

Please spread the word :)
